A Month of Row House Design: Christina Roberts

Join us as we celebrate 40 years of deign excellence

To celebrate ABA's 40th anniversary, we invited our team members to design a unique row house façade. Each day, we'll showcase a different perspective from our talented staff. Today we take a look at the hand crafted design made by ABA's Office & Accounting Coordinator Christina Roberts.

Christina's Statement:

Pops and Honey’s Home

My husband and I strive to create a supportive and safe environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and freedom of expression without judgement for our grandchildren.

The façade is built using a variety of blocks in varied sizes, materials, shapes, and colors, representing the diverse elements of life that we will nurture in their development. Each block contributes to the overall symbolism of growth and development. One of the cornerstones of early childhood development is reading, and my granddaughter's favorite books are utilized to establish strong foundations for each level. The use of basic craft materials to finish the project represents creativity and imagination. My granddaughter's artwork is used to create the stained-glass windows for the transom, sidelites, and dormer.

The interior will be welcoming, cheery and filled with laughter. Every room will have windows that provide ample natural light and fresh air. The flooring will draw colors from nature and will be simple to clean. Pocket doors will be installed between the playroom and the living room to create a larger play area and help conceal the chaos.

“Grandchildren are so much fun we should have had them first.” - Gene Perret
