Job Captain

Finding inspiration in Frank Lloyd Wright’s organic architecture and Claude Monet’s use of colors and details in his paintings, Anissa strives to bring art to her role as Job Captain just as much as she emphasizes the technical accuracy needed for drafting and Building Information Modeling. An additional asset to her work: a motivation to learn and grow that reflects legendary football coach Vince Lombardi’s view that “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” It’s an attitude that has served her well in working with teams to deliver projects that achieve a truly meaningful and positive impact on communities – the City of Salinas’ El Gabilan Library, for example. More than a signature ABA project, the new library is close to home and she is proud that her efforts contributed to an acclaimed project whose benefits she can witness first-hand.

ROW HOUSE DESIGN CHALLENGE

To celebrate the firm's 40th anniversary, staff were challenged to share their imagination and design thinking by creating a row house concept. Here is Anissa's.

Statement:

Creating a connection to nature and community to this home’s occupants in three ways.Having larger windows almost floor to ceiling on all three floors allows the occupants to visually see nature and their community from the comfort within their home. The second-floor outdoor patio allows the occupants to experience both nature from the comfort of their home while still feeling a sense of connection with their community as it passes by. The rooftop garden allows the occupants a variety of possibilities being able to escape and immerse themselves in nature, experiencing incredible skyline views, and being able to invite their community to their rooftop garden get away enjoying nature and community.
