Vidya Vemula

While Vidya finds inspiration for her work in many places, from India’s classical temple architecture to the modern sculptural works of Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry, she ultimately traces her love of architecture to watching her uncle at work in design and construction. Encouraged by her mother, who emphasized the value of hard work and perseverance, she pursued studies in architecture and, throughout her 24 years of practice, went on to work on diverse school, office, retail, and residential projects. The common denominator, other than Vidya’s technical and project management skills, is her keen ability to understand projects from the end user’s point of view. Combined with a commitment to working hard and intelligently, her empathy is a distinct asset as she works with clients and a multi-disciplinary team to guide projects from concept through to completion.
