Following a conditions assessment, ABA designed the transformative renovation of an engineering classroom into a versatile laboratory of ideas whose open concept provides zones programmed for specific, yet intersecting, activities: an instructional/ideation zone, small group collaboration zones enclosed within glass walls, and production area with computers, 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools, and breakout areas. Improvements also included improving accessibility, increasing daylighting, and strengthening the classroom’s campus connections. The outcome is an innovative learning environments for STEM students to explore and experiment.
