The partnership of ABA Studios and Mark Cavagnero Associates transformed a library building originally constructed on the West Valley College Campus in 1972 into a progressive learning and social hub that enhances the student experience with diverse spaces that encourage creativity, curiosity, and intellect. Encompassing 56,000 sf of existing space and the addition of 3,600 sf, the project fundamentally modernized spaces for library services, multi-media collections, personal study, and collaborative work while providing spaces for new programs such as a digital media center, TV/recording studio, makerspace, and gaming studios. Further supporting the “whole student,” the renewed LRC also includes complimentary resources such as a writing center, tutorial/assessment center, student club/organization meeting spaces, and a meditation room equipped with storage and a foot wash station.
