Interior Designer, Ashly Vineyard Celebrates Aptos Library

ABA Culture

As our team's interior designer, Ashly Vineyard, NCIDQ, WELL AP, has played a leading role in creating interiors that celebrate the Aptos community's identity and values in a new library building. Her work designing interior spaces also inspired her participation in the Haworth 5-V 2022 Art Exhibition event; an exciting opportunity for talented interior designers to showcase their work in a more personal way. With her submission, titled "Forest to Ocean," Ashly combined fashion and photography to bring her design concepts to life.

Accompanying her fantastic photos, here's how she describes her project and inspiration:

APOTOS BRANCH LIBRARY
Nestled between the serene blue waters of Monterey Bay and the towering redwoods of Nisene Marks is the picturesque town of Aptos. This vibrant beach town is where the Aptos Branch Library is currently under construction. Anderson Brule Architects designed the 12,408 square foot building in partnership with Bogard Construction. The design developed by the ABA-Bogard team reflects the community’s identity and values while celebrating Aptos's unique culture and natural beauty.

PROJECT CONCEPT VISION
Create a welcoming space that fosters human connection, embraces diversity, and inspires intellectual curiosity and enlightenment. Creating a resilient place that celebrates our natural resources from land to sea, bridging the history and future of Aptos.

FROM VISION TO VOGUE
Taking inspiration from the project design concepts, we created a piece that pulls from the deep blues of the Pacific Ocean and the vibrant greens of the redwood forest. To one side of the library, a bright kelp forest; to the other, a peaceful redwood forest. The fold of the fabric takes inspiration from the movement we see throughout the building. The rhythmic lapping of the ocean tide, the swirly movement of the ever-flowing water current, the spiraled green of kelp reaching up from the ocean floor. A crown of the forest canopy. As water fades to sand, the sand becomes earth, the earth that supports the towering forest of Nisene Marks.

Congratulations, Ashly, on a fantastic submission!
