With a keen appreciation for humanity’s diversity and complexity, Kuhoo believes that design is an act of compassion in which we place ourselves “in the shoes” of the people we design for. Instilled by her teachers at Cal Poly SLO with a focus on precision and the skillful integration of technology into the planning and design processes, she applies this core conviction to her work on projects that not only build communities but actively empower historically marginalized populations. Fundamentally, she strives to bridge the practical and idealistic aspects of architecture, responding to the specific needs and local context of a project while striving toward the goal of making the world a better place for everyone. Ultimately, the state of affairs may “not be our fault, but it is our responsibility,” and Kuhoo plays her part with hard work, critical thinking, humility, and the willingness to stand up for her beliefs. Since joining ABA, she has already proven the value of her conviction through her work on various planning and design projects for library and educational clients.
