It's National Library Week! In honor of the theme "There's more to the story," Anderson Brule Architects is proud to share our work on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library in San Jose, California. Prior to teaming with Carrier Johnson +CULTURE and Gunnar Birkerts for its design, we guided the development of the library's pioneering model for its joint use by San José Public Library and San José State University.
Over two million people visit the MLK Library annually, making it a beloved resource in the community. There are more than 1.5 million books and academic collections at the library, along with free wifi and public computers. Public art by the internationally recognized artist Mel Chin contributes to the library's celebration of imagination and life-long learning.
We're proud to have played a part in the creation of this iconic library - a beacon of knowledge and community. If you're in the San Jose area, stop by the MLK Library to see all that it has to offer. Happy National Library Week!
